It is not so much that I am in to women's tennis, just the fact that I couldn't believe this photo when I saw it. Is Serena Williams on HGH? It has been all over the news; Evanders done it, Bonds has done it, virtually every pro wrestler has done it, and I'm going to go out on a limb here and say Serena is on something. I have nothing against her, she is a great tennis player (Probably because her athletic advantage over her opponents is the equivalent of putting me in a pop-warner league) and a spectacular athlete. But come on, am I the only one that thinks, that just isn't normal.

Brady Joked Cut From Final SNL Cut
From Ben Maller:
joke about New England Patriots QB Tom Brady's pregnancy predicament - which was scheduled to be delivered by his arch-rival Indianapolis Colts QB Peyton Manning - was axed from last week’s “Saturday Night Live,” according to the BOSTON HERALD
Manning's monologue, told a story about visiting a Boston veterans hospital and being taunted by a Pats fan named Joe O’Malley. “What do Tom Brady and the circus have in common?” Peyton said Joe asked him. “They both have two more rings than you.”
According to writer Dan Shanoff, that was not how the joke originally went. In the dress rehearsal, Burlington homegal Amy Poehler was dressed in a Pats jersey and she is the one who delivered the “two more rings than you” line.
To which, Peyton replied “That’s not the ONLY thing he’ll have two more of . .

King James Builds 35,440-square foot Castle
Lebron James has begun construction on his new 35,440 square foot Mansion in Bath Township, Ohio. His new house will feature a casino, barber, bowling alley, and movie theater.
Here is the story covered by Fox Sports:
AKRON, Ohio - LeBron James' 35,440-square-foot house under construction in Bath Township, Ohio is shaping up as a castle fit for a king — with a theater, bowling alley, casino and barber shop.
The house in a suburban location 20 miles south of Cleveland is due to be finished next year. It is being built on 5.6 acres of land purchased, along with an 11-bedroom house, in 2003 for $2.1 million.
The Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star and Akron native, whose stated goal is to be the world's first billionaire athlete, razed the house to clear the way for the new one.
A first-floor master suite, which includes a two-story walk-in closet, will be about 40 feet wide and 56 feet long — bigger than half the houses in Bath Township.
The house has a dining hall, roughly 27 feet by 27 feet, a "great room" at 34 feet by 37 feet and a bigger, two-story "grand room," according to the Akron Beacon Journal, which reported on the blueprints.
The "family foyer" off the six-car garage near the elevator will be dwarfed by a "grand foyer" inside the front entrance with a sweeping, divided staircase leading to four second-story bedrooms. An outer wall will feature a limestone sculpture — a bas-relief of LeBron's head, wearing his trademark headband.
The property is an oddly shaped tract wedged among lots that average 2.3 acres and houses that average 3,209 square feet. His property is 300 feet wide at the street and 677 feet deep.
The house already has begun to draw the curious.
"People who come to photograph it are disrespectful," said Tom Bader, one of nine immediate next-door neighbors. "They park their car in the middle of the street — with their doors open! And you're sitting behind them! All I wanna do is go home after a hard day's work."
Sometimes Bader must wait to turn into his driveway because gawkers have driven up, hoping for a better view of James' place.
"As far as LeBron the man goes, I think he's an outstanding individual," said Bader, a graduate of James' alma mater, St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron.
"He's great for Cleveland. I'm proud to have him. I have no issues with LeBron James at all. The problem is the baggage that he unintentionally carries with him."
Bader has discouraged his children's dream that James might have them over to shoot hoops.
"I said, `Honey, I don't think that's going to happen. Besides that, don't ever, ever invite LeBron over to our house to play ball because he's going to twist his ankle and I will have my house eternally egged."'
While waiting for the home to be finished, James splits his time between a huge apartment in downtown Cleveland and a relatively modest four-bedroom house in Medina County west of Akron. He paid $580,000 for the house in 2005.

Griffin wrecks Ferrari Enzo practicing for race
Undercover Brother Eddie Griffin totalled a limited edition $1.5 million Ferrari Enzo at a track in Irwindale, Ca while promoting his upcoming film, "Redline."
The car was the ultimate piece in Redline producer Daniel Sadek extensive exotic car collection. What asked of the incident, Sadek said the following:
"I'm glad Eddie came out of the crash OK, but my dream car got destroyed," Sadek said. "I went to my trailer for about 15 minutes and I thought, there's people dying every day. A lot of worse things are happening in the world."
Way to go Eddie, you've made YouTube and are hereby eternally entered into the Ferrari Hall of Infamy along with that dumbass from Europe that cracked up another Enzo a couple of years back.
Wow. Just wow.

Sheed Drains 60 footer to Force Overtime
With a three point lead and the ball, and inbounding the ball on their side of the court with almost no time, all the Nuggets had to do was inbound the ball and wait for time to expire. Little did the Nuggets know, Rasheed Wallace was going to steal the inbounds pass and then drain a 60 footer to force overtime. The Pistons went on to win the game in overtime, stunning the Nuggets 113-109.

Theismann gets punted from MNF
The football gods have finally heard the prayers of millions of American Football fans. Joe Theismann is out of the Monday Night Football booth, and will be replaced by Ron Jaworski. If you don't remember, NFL Scores and AwfulAnnouncing have been wishing for some changes for awhile.
Here's what the New York Times had to say,
It the second change for ESPN’s on-air crew since it acquired the rights to “Monday Night.” At first, Al Michaels was to be the play-by-play announcer, but he was released from his contract before he called a game in order to join NBC. Mike Tirico then replaced Michaels, and he joined Tony Kornheiser, the Washington Post columnist and co-host of ESPN’s “Pardon the Interruption,” and Theismann.
Although the first season of “Monday Night” on ESPN was its least viewed ever after 36 seasons on ABC — falling by more than four million a game — it was an unqualified success as a cable series, increasing ESPN’s viewership by 41 percent over the audience for “Sunday Night Football” in 2005.
AwfulAnnouncing has some links to several others takes on the subject.
I will leave you with some words of wisdom from Joe,
"Nobody in the game of football should be called a genius. A genius is somebody like Norman Einstein."

Gary Matthews Jr. Denys Taking HGH
Today, Gary Matthews Jr. denied that he ever took HGH in 2004 from a pharmacy that is currently under investigation for selling steriods. It took Matthews 16 days to respond to the accusations saying,
"I have never taken HGH during the 2004 season or any other time," Matthews said in a statement. "Nobody has accused me of doing so, and no law enforcement authority has said I am a target of any investigation for doing so."
When asked why it took so long to respond to the accusations he said, "I had to think of a good lie". Just Kidding. He really said,
"Before saying anything publicly I wanted to make absolutely sure of my ground," he said. "In particular, I needed to try to learn whether anybody in authority in or out of baseball felt they had reason to accuse me of anything with regard to HGH. If they did, I would have to deal with that. It has taken me, and those representing me, 16 days to make certain that's not the case. And that is why it has taken longer than I would have preferred to make a public statement."Ok, you have to help me with this. If you didn't do it, why would you have to do all this investigating? Couldnt you just deny it? To me, his statement pretty much says, "We had to do some investigating to see how much evidence they actually found agianst me before I could try and lie my way out of it."
He didn't take HGH. Yea, and Evander Holyfield, I mean Evan Fields didn't either.

Key Signings in the NFL
Patriots- The Patriots acquired star receiver Donte StallWorth from the Philadelphia Eagles. According to ESPN.com, StallWorths deal is worth $33.1 million over six years, including a guaranteed $3.6 million for 2007. This will leave a huge talent gap in the Eagles receiving core, but will give the Patriots and Brady a legitimate threat down the field with the ability to break big plays every time he touches the ball.
Giants- The Giants received RD Reuben Droughns from the Cleveland Browns in exchange for injury prone WR Tim Carter. The Giants think that he will experience will compliment young Brandon Jacobs in the backfield, and help fill the gap left by Tiki Barbers retirement.
Falcons- The Falcons signed veteran receiver Joe Horn to a four year, $19 million, $7.5 guaranteed contract. Horn is expected to bring experience to the young receiving core of Atlanta, as well as a immediate sure handed target to Michael Vick.
Browns- The Browns not only strengthened their team, but also weaken its divisional opponents Baltimore and Cincinnati at the same time. On the first day of free agency, the Browns signed guard Eric Steinbach from Cincinnati to pave the way for Baltimore running back Jamal Lewis.
Raiders- Colts running back Dominique Rhodes has signed a 2 year deal with the Raiders for 7.5 million. He is expected to provide the same two-headed attack he provided while with the Colts but will now be partnered with recently re-signed running back LaMont Jordan. Rhodes recently was recently arrested for driving under the influence and could face punishment by the NFL.
Texans- Ahman Green has signed a 4 four-year contract with the Texans worth $23 million, including $6.5 million in guaranteed money.
49ers- According to FoxSports.com, "The 49ers signed cornerback Nate Clements, safety Michael Lewis, nose tackle Aubrayo Franklin and linebacker Tully Banta-Cain. Each of those players should be reaching their prime as players, McCloughan said."

Pharmacists Involved In Steroid Scandal Plead Not Guilty
According to Fox Sports,
Albany County District Attorney P. David Soares, who ran the investigation, said Signature filled prescriptions, in some cases from unlicensed doctors, knowing they had not met patients. His office said at least $250,000 in illegal and controlled substances were sold directly into Albany County, and New York State sales exceeded $10 million.
During the raid, a customer list was aquired and showed the name of Pittsburgh Steelers Doctor Richard Rydze. Apparenlty Rydze has a huge testosterone problem, because he used his personal credit card to purchase 150,000 dollars worth of human growth hormone as well as testosterone. I wonder where that went.
Some other names found on similar lists include Jose Canseco, Evander Holyfield, Gary Matthews Jr., and Jerry Hairston Jr. What I think is hilarious is that if these guys aren't guilty, why don't they come out and defend themselves. If someone was dragging my name through the mud, I would be adamantly denying any association with these guys.
I have to give props to Evander for being the only one to come and and straight up deny involvement. Holyfield said,
I do not use steroids, I have never used steroids. I resent that my name has been linked to known steroid users by sources who refuse to be identified in order to generate publicity for their investigation. I’m disappointed that certain members of the media fell for this ploy and chose to use my name in headlines and publish my photo alongside stories in today’s newspaper about an investigation into a practice that has nothing to do with me or what I stand for.
I am glad Evanders name did not come up on the list after he has played the Christian card. But it does look a little suspicious when there is a name (Evan Fields) with the exact same birthday, the address 794 Evander, Fairfield, Ga., and Holyfield answers when a reporter from Sports Illustrated calls the number listed on the documents found.

Should Pippen & Miller Come Out of Retirement?
Rumors around the NBA are running rampant that both Reggie Miller and Scottie Pippen are plotting comebacks to make a playoff run this season with a contending team. But should either of them even consider coming out of retirement? I say yes, and no.
The main reason critics want Scottie and Reggie to be stay at home is to protect the all important legacy. To me, if you like playing the game, if that's what makes you happy, do it till you can't anymore. Obviously a time comes in every athletes life where his body can no longer take the everyday punishment that professional sports dishes out, but in the case of Scottie Pippen and Reggie Miller, that is not an issue yet. If your body is in good shape, and you still have the fire, I don't see a problem with that.
This is the situation I think Pippen is in. The guy has accomplished everything imaginable in basketball, but still wants to play for the simple reason, that is what he loves to do. Athletically, the guy is a freak of nature. Even now, in his twilight years, the guy has the body fat of an Olympian, and I am sure he still has some game. I would like to see him come back.
Reggie on the other hand, I don't like his motives. I hate seeing players in there golden years start moving from team to team with their one year, overpaid contracts chasing rings (ex. Gary Payton). It is disgusting. Payton couldn't get it done when he was the one leading the team, then joins a team to have someone else give it to him. I'm not sure if this is what Reggie has in mind, but if it is, I hope he sticks with broadcasting.

Who is the Big 12 Player of the Year?
Who do you take Law or Durant?
I think last nights game will pretty much sum the whole thing up. Acie Law put up big numbers, hit clutch shots, but Durant won in the end.
Durant is averaging 25 pts and 12 rbs 1 ast a game while Acie is averaging 18 pts 3 reb 5 ast.
Although Durant is averaging more points and boards, there is no doubt Law brings more to the table than whats written on the score sheet. This is why I pick Law for the Big 12 Player of the Year.
Complete sports comments on Laws performance in the Texas vs Texas A&M game.
